Currently the effect of electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) is
very popular in quantum electronics and wave physics (in particular, this
effect underlies the widely known experiments of "stopping of light"). In
this report we discuss EIT as the general phenomenon of nonlinear waves'
physics, common for quantum and classical systems.
We consider in the most details the following topics:
1) The effect of EIT within the zone of electron-cyclotron resonance.
2) EIT in the zone of upper-hybrid resonance in tokamak-like plasma.
3) The applications of one of the EIT variants (undulator induced
transparency, UIT) for compact plasma accelerators of ions.
