PhD Defense: Wei Ou

DIFFER researcher Wei Ou will defend his PhD thesis titled "Liquid metal as the wall material of fusion reactors: deuterium retention and surface stability" on 7 July 2021 from 13:30 - 14:30 CEST. The defense will take place online.

Liquid tin and lithium
The success of nuclear fusion as a power source critically depends on the development of a plasma-facing material that can handle extremely high power and neutron loads. Liquid metals are presently being considered as promising plasma-facing materials. In his thesis, Wei Ou systematically explores the possibility of liquid tin and lithium as the wall material of fusion reactors in terms of hydrogen isotope retention and surface stability.
