Seminar: Optical frequency comb spectroscopy

During the past couple of decades, optical frequency comb spectroscopy has matured from theoretical calculation and limited lab demonstration to a powerful tool suitable for different practical applications. These applications are quite diverse: from environmental monitoring, study of chemical reactions, combustion analysis and plasma study to pharmaceutical and medical diagnostics. In my talk, I will present a brief introduction of optical frequency combs and their applications in molecular absorption spectroscopy and cover my personal journey during the past seven years on the development of optical frequency comb spectroscopy systems in near- and mid-infrared wavelength ranges. I mainly discuss three most popular detection methods of Fourier-transform, Vernier and dual-comb spectroscopy as well as two practical applications, combustion analysis in a flat flame burner and time-resolved spectroscopy in an electrical discharge.
