DIFFER researcher Yu Li will defend his PhD thesis titled "Thermo-mechanical Behavior of Tungsten Under Fusion-relevant Hydrogen Plasma Loads" on 18 June 2021 from 11:00 - 12:00 CEST. The defense will take place online.
Tungsten under plasma loads
Nuclear fusion is a promising way to address the global energy challenge. Tungsten is used to handle the extreme fusion exhaust, the performance of which is critical to the viability of nuclear fusion. In his thesis Yu Li explores the thermo-mechanical behavior of tungsten under fusion-relevant hydrogen plasma loads using the unique linear plasma device Magnum-PSI.
