DIFFER seminar: The Far Right and Science: From Covid-19 to Climate Change

Abstract
In the 21st century, the far right has left the Marins to become part of the political mainstream. This so-called fourth wave of the far right is characterized by heterogeneity, mainstreaming, and normalization. Like many other issues, the relationship of the far right with science is not as straightforward and simplistic as received wisdom has it. In this lecture, I will outline the heterogeneity of the positions on science of European populist radical right parties with specific reference to the COVID-19 pandemic and the climate change crisis. Moreover, I will relate them to positions held by so-called ?mainstream? parties.
