Abstract: In the context of decarbonization of hard-to-abate energy-intensive sectors, green hydrogen emerges as a promising alternative fuel, which allows long-term energy storage from intermittent renewable sources and can be consumed without emitting carbon dioxide. In this talk, we will discuss challenges and opportunities of using hydrogen as a fuel to generate high-temperature heat and power. The tremendous effect of hydrogen on conversion rates, flame stability and emissions will be explained and the challenges in computational modelling of these phenomena will be addressed.
