A Comparison of Different Types of Coherent Radiation of a Relativistic Electron-Beam in the X-Ray Range

Abstract

A comparison of the spectral-angular intensity of radiation of a relativistic electron beam is carried oui in the X-ray range for different radiation types: transition radiation: parametric Cherenkov radiation; undulattor radiation: and radiation in the electromagnetic wave field. Simple analytical formulas are given, making it possible to estimate the number of quanta in every case. It is shown that at a radiation wavelength of approximately 1 angstrom Compton backscattering of photons is most powerful.
