Abstract

Transport of particles and heat in magnetic confinement devices can be largely attributed to the presence of microscopic instabilities. To obtain a better insight in the physical mechanisms underlying plasma transport processes it is a requirement to diagnose die fluctuations in the various quantities as well as their cross-correlations. After a brief introduction into the mathematical tools for fluctuation analysis, an overview will be given of the most important techniques for diagnosing various fluctuating quantities.
