DIFFER hosts Plasma Facing Materials Conference 2019

Published on May 22, 2017

From 20 to 24 May 2019, DIFFER will host PFMC-17, the 17th International Conference on Plasma-Facing Materials and Components for Fusion Applications. PFMC brings together around 250 international students and experts on materials capable of handling the extreme conditions in future fusion devices and power plants.

The performance of such devices strongly depends on the plasma-facing materials and components. Resistance to heat and particle loads, compatibility in plasma operations, thermo-mechanical properties, as well as the response to neutron irradiation are critical parameters which need to be understood and tailored from atomistic to component levels.

The conference will be organized by DIFFER at the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology.
