Martin van Breukelen (1980) will be taking up the position of institute manager of DIFFER on 1 July. He previously managed the stable isotope lab of the NFI and was the point of contact for HFML-FELIX in Nijmegen for the past eleven years. At DIFFER, one of the things he plans to do is to further open up the facilities to guest researchers.

Registration is open for the 48th European Conference on Plasma Physics. The conference will be held online from June 27 to July 1 2022. Early bird tickets are available until 29 April. DIFFER's Thomas Morgan wil give a plenary talk.

“My PhD involved solving problem after problem. Luckily, I really enjoy solving problems.” Artur Perek worked on the MANTIS camera system that monitors the plasma within a fusion reactor. It helps controllers to make sure that the plasma that ends up at the exhaust - the divertor - is not too hot.

DIFFER researcher Purushothaman Varadhan has acquired a Marie Curie Fellowship. This European grant will allow him to spend two years researching low-cost and environmentally friendly ways to produce hydrogen. He will conduct the research at Herriot-Watt University in Edinburgh (UK).
