Kick-off meeting 3D printer TU/e and DIFFER
TU/e and DIFFER celebrated the commissioning of an Aconity Midi 3D printer during a festive kick-off meeting. With the printer, metal structures with a high melting point, such as tungsten can be printed.

DIFFER has launched a new name for the Solar Fuels department: Chemical Energy. With this new name, one of DIFFER’s two research departments features a more inclusive name, for the long term. Although Solar Fuels has been a suitable name for many years, the department’s activities now go far beyond generating fuels using only energy from sunlight.
Weekend van de Wetenschap DIFFER
What a day... On Saturday 5 October 2024 more than 800 people visited DIFFER for the first open day after many years. With funny experiments, lectures, and engaging activities we offered visitors an inspiring afternoon. The result? Many happy little faces and an energizing vibe. Let's take a look back!
BSBF 2024
Belgium and the Netherlands will jointly organise the so-called European Big Science Business Forum (BSBF) at the MECC in Maastricht in October 2026. An expected 1,000 participants from leading high-tech companies will meet Europe’s larger research organisations at this conference to share knowledge on high technology and innovation.

Thanks to funding through the NWO Open Technology Programme the research project ‘Development of additively manufactured tungsten heat shields for nuclear fusion’ can start. This project will exploit the unique infrastructure that is developed between TU/e and DIFFER as part of the Liquid Metal Shield laboratory (LiMeS-lab).
