Anja Bieberle-Hütter was elected work group leader of the EU COST Action “Computational materials sciences for efficient water splitting with nanocrystals from abundant elements”.
A COST Action is a European network dedicated to scientific collaboration and is complementing national research funds. This particular action focuses on achieving greater scientific understanding of water splitting and developing approaches for reliable and realistic multi-scale modelling of nano-oxides material architectures. In her role of work group leader, Dr. Bieberle also becomes management committee member from the Netherlands to contribute to the coordination, implementation, and management of the Action.
Anja Bieberle-Hütter leads the Electrochemical Materials and Interfaces group at DIFFER. She has extensive experience in the multiscale modelling of electrochemical approaches and systems. Leading the working group “Microscale and Continuum Modeling” in this COST Action enables her to provide analyses and information from continuum modeling on the impacts of material properties for sustainable hydrogen production by electrochemical water splitting. Another objective is to review applications of microscale models in predicting in-situ and macroscopic physical properties of materials for these kind of energy conversion applications. Close connection to the other working groups in the Action, in particular to the working group “Multiscale Modeling” will be fostered.
