The Control of Complexity

Mathematical models of dynamical systems become increasingly complex as a consequence of increasing requirements on technical specifications and technological improvements. Techniques for model-based system design and model based control design therefore need to cope with high levels of complexity of mathematical models. This presentation highlights a number of techniques and research challenges to reduce complexity of mathematical models while retaining well defined levels of accuracy or properties of the model.
