Aviation is one of the least tractable of industries to decarbonize. The European research project KEROGREEN offers a pathway to synthesizing sustainable kerosene from air and water. Researchers and industry gathered on the 15 November 2019 at DIFFER to share their work and views.
“It’s like watching atoms wrestle for oxygen.” DIFFER-researcher Vasileios Kyriakou describes the formation process of nanoparticles, seen in real-time with an advanced electron microscope. An international team of researchers observed the controlled formation of nanoparticles in inorganic perovskite materials. The result is published in ACS Nano and was highlighted by Science.
Transparent conductive electrodes are of relevance for industrial applications such as solar cells, LEDs and touchscreens. These electrodes, however, are expensive and brittle by nature. The promising alternative are silver nanowire networks. Researchers from Eindhoven developed better ways to produce and characterize them.
