Seminars

Seminars at DIFFER cover a wide range of topics and are held on Thursdays at 11.15 AM in the seminar room of the institute (unless otherwise stated). Seminars are open to everybody. If you are interested in visiting a DIFFER seminar or want to subscribe to our mailing list, please follow the instructions for external visitors.

Electricity is the fuel of choice for the future. Abundant variable renewables become available and advanced power electronics run our power system. Peter Vaessen, from DNVGL KEMA Laboratories and part time professor at TU Delft, will talk about the Energy Transition.

Tailoring the self- and co-assembly pathways of amphiphilic and double hydrophilic block copolymers by modulation of both equilibrium and out-of-equilibrium routes enables the non-covalent synthesis of well-defined, nanostructured hydrocolloids with a hierarchical internal structure, tuneable dynamics, and interesting functional properties.

In this talk, I discuss the dissipativity property of Duhem hysteresis models which is related to the property of counter-clockwise (CCW) and clockwise (CW) systems. Under mild assumptions on the functions which define the Duhem model, an explicit construction of the storage functions is given based on the data on these functions.

The liquid-to-glass transition remains one of the deepest unsolved problems in condensed matter science. In this talk, I will first give a general introduction to the topic, and then present a novel first-principles theory that can shed new light on the physics of glass formation.

2D materials have been the focus of intense research in the last decade due to their unique physical and chemical properties. This presentation will highlight our recent progress on the synthesis of two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (2DTMDs) for nanoelectronics and catalysis applications using atomic layer deposition (ALD).
