The first experiment with Upgraded Pilot-PSI (UPP), DIFFER’s new facility, has been performed in September by master student Parwez Rasulyaar and the Plasma Material Interactions group. The machine will be the first to couple high flux plasma with an ion beam, bringing two of DIFFER’s expertises together in one machine. It is based on the fore-runner of Magnum-PSI, Pilot-PSI.

The SCALE consortium, headed by DIFFER, kicked off on Thursday 16 September 2021. DIFFER, together with the TU/e and a number of other parties will investigate a new sustainable approach to generate hydrogen. NWO has awarded SCALE 1.25 M€ of funding to prepare the ground for the next generation of water electrolyzers.

Material databases contain valuable information for energy researchers, but searching them was time consuming. DIFFER researcher Süleyman Er and colleagues now developed a way to make multiple databases interoperable. The result is published in the journal Nature Scientific Data.
