A protective layer of fluoride can increase the stability of perovskite solar cells significantly, writes an international research collaboration in the leading journal Nature Energy. The finding by scientists from DIFFER, Eindhoven University of Technology, Peking University and University of Twente holds much promise for the future of perovskite solar cells.

In December 2018, DIFFER received a desktop Thermo Scientific Phenom Pharos Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). This small-sized SEM was one of the first of its kind in the Netherlands and it is now in regular operation at the institute.

Op dinsdag 30 april maakte DIFFER kennis met Freya Senf, die op 1 augustus start als nieuwe instituutsmanager van DIFFER. De afgelopen jaren was Senf werkzaam als managing director van het Instituut voor Moleculen en Materialen van de Radboud Universiteit. Bij DIFFER volgt ze instituutsmanager Wim Koppers op, die begin dit jaar aantrad als directeur bedrijfsvoering en financiën bij NWO.

Op 11 april 2019 organiseerde de vaste Tweede Kamer-commissie voor Economische Zaken en Klimaat een gesprek over de Klimaattafel Industrie. Wetenschappers waaronder DIFFER-directeur Richard van de Sanden gaven daarin hun visie op de aanpak van de energietransitie. "Er is nog veel onderzoek en ontwikkeling nodig."
